Best thing I have done for myself in along time, absolutely love my gems. I got two done and it only took a couple of hours of having them for me to book back in for more, Jen is lovely and super easy going and the price is really affordable. I 100% recommend teeth gems if you want to treat yourself. I definitely have a new obsession :)

What our clients say

  • What are tooth gems?
Tooth gems are crystals and gold that is applied to the surface of teeth using professional techniques and dental products. This is a safe and effective way to add a touch of personality to your smile.
  • Can tooth gems be removed?
Yes! Dentists and hygienists are trained to remove dental composite that is used to apply your tooth gems. Any remaining composite must be scaled and polished off the tooth before another application on the same spot. Dazzle Teeth does not do removals. Instead, we've partnered with Floss Oral Hygiene, a hygienist confident in the safe removal of tooth gems. Visit them here: Megan Wilkinson | Floss Oral Hygiene Limited | Christchurch
  • Can tooth gems be applied to cosmetically whitened teeth?
Yes! Whitening can make your teeth feel more sensitive especially if it is done professionally. We recommend you wait 14 days after professional whitening so your tooth gem experience is as comfortable as possible. This includes overnight whitening trays. At home whitening strips are not as strong but it is still recommended to have a break to ensure your enamel is strong enough to hold your tooth gems well.
  • Can I have tooth gems on my false teeth/veneers?
Tooth gems cannot be applied to false teeth including caps, crowns, dentures and veneers. False teeth are smooth and non-porous so tooth gems don't adhere well. We can only apply gems to real teeth.
  • Does it hurt/ Do you use drills?
No drills. No pain. We use quality dental products and techniques to apply gems on the tooth surface.
  • Are tooth gems safe and what if I swallow it?
When applied by a professional like Dazzle Teeth, tooth gems do not damage your tooth enamel. The crystals and gold we supply are lead-free and nontoxic. We only use dental grade products that are made for the mouth. This makes them suitable for long term wear, X-rays, MRI scans and ingestion.
  • How long do tooth gems last?
Tooth gems can last from months to years. Longevity varies for crystal size and placement. Notably, longevity generally comes down to your aftercare and habits. Tooth gems will last longer if you look after them and follow the aftercare instructions provided at your appointment.
  • Can I still wear my retainer or Invisalign with tooth gems?
It depends on the type of retainer. Tooth gems can be accommodated with wire retainers but not with clear plastic retainers like Invisalign. If you have a wire retainer, bring this with you to your appointment. Tooth gems are not flat and plastic retainers put pressure on them thus affecting their longevity. Consider the option of getting a new retainer made that can include your tooth gems.
  • What can I choose from?
We only apply crystals from our trusted suppliers. These are premium lead-free crystals suitable for tooth gems made in Austria. We stock crystals in many sizes, colours and shapes. We also stock shaped Yellow Gold and White Gold pieces.
  • Can I bring my own crystals or gold piece?
Sorry no, we can only apply our crystals and gold to guarantee they are genuinely lead-free and safe for the mouth. These are sourced from trusted suppliers for your safety.
  • Can I bring a friend?
Yes! Your friend is welcome to come to the appointment. If you would both like to get tooth gems simply book two appointments next to each other on the same day.
  • What is the aftercare?
Don't eat for two hours after your appointment. For the next 12 hours eat soft food, on the opposite side of your mouth. Don't brush your tooth gem for 12 hours. You may drink, kiss and smoke immediately afterwards.
  • Does Dazzle Teeth remove tooth gems or composite?
No, we do not remove tooth gems or the dental composite that was used to apply your tooth gem. With time this will weaken and fall off the tooth. Or you can ask a dentist or hygienist to have this cleaned off at your next appointment. We recommend Floss Oral Hygiene NZ - Our partnered hygienist.
  • How much for a small crystal?
One tooth gem starts at $75 +GST. You can choose any size of our classic or iridescent crystals for this price. To see our full range or prices and services click this link: Make an appointment at Dazzle Teeth - 306 Cashel Street - Christchurch | Fresha
  • What forms of payment do you accept?
At your appointment, we accept Cash, Card and Afterpay. If you would like to pay by Afterpay please have your card set up in the app's wallet for contactless payment. There is a 2% surcharge for contactless payments. You can swipe or insert debit cards with no surcharge.
  • Can I book you for an event?
Yes, we would love to add a bit more excitement and sparkle to your event. We have previously worked in markets, private parties, music festivals and conventions. Contact us and let us know what you have in mind. It is best to give us as much notice as possible to secure an event booking.
  • Can I still whiten my teeth after receiving my tooth gems?
Yes, you can whiten your teeth with tooth gems. It is recommended to whiten your teeth before getting tooth gems as the area under the gem will not be affected by whitening. We also can't anticipate how whitening products would affect the tooth gems retention so please wait at least 14 days before whitening after receiving tooth gems.
  • Can I get an Opal tooth gem?
Dazzle Teeth does not stock opal tooth gems. This is because we aim for high retention and only use jewellery that can withstand being in the mouth. The opal tooth gems you see online are made from acrylic. If you have ever had an acrylic key ring, you'll know it gets scratched and damaged in your bag, the same would happen in your mouth. For this reason, Dazzle Teeth instead stocks an opal colored crystal that is safe and can withstand being in the mouth.
  • Who did you train with?
Jennifer was qualified with Crystal Canine. The original tooth gem company in the UK. They remain the only place we recommend training with if you are interested in becoming a tooth gem technician. Training Courses — Crystal Canine (crystal-canine.co.uk)
  • Do you offer training?
Dazzle Teeth does not offer training. We suggest if you are interested in becoming a tooth gem technician to seek training with Crystal Canine. This is the tooth gem company Jen trained with and remains the only education provider we recommend.
  • What is a Grill?
A grill is a semi-permanent metal cap that can be put on and off yourself, just like a necklace. Our grills are made to fit a dental impression of your teeth, ensuring they fit you perfectly. Grillz can come in many forms and designs but always made with precious metal like Sterling Silver.
  • When is a good time to get a grill?
For the best results and long-term wear of your grill, it’s important to have your grill made when your teeth and gums are healthy and stable. If your gums are swollen or fluctuating, I recommend working towards consistent oral health before getting a grill.
  • What if I don’t live in Christchurch but still want a grill?
Hey! I want to make sure you get the best possible grill, and that means we need to meet in person. An in-person consultation is essential to clearly communicate your ideas and expectations. I also prefer to take your dental impression myself to ensure accuracy. A follow-up appointment is required after your grill is made to check and adjust the fit if needed. For these reasons, I require my clients to be able to attend these two appointments at my Christchurch based studio. These appointments are roughly 4 weeks apart.
  • What happens in the dental impression appointment?
Using alginate, a dentist grade impression material, we will take a few molds of your teeth. This is used to create a plaster model which becomes the base for designing your grill. Dental plasters cannot be reused, so a fresh one is needed for each new grill. All plaster models are returned to you or destroyed after used.
  • Is a grill permanent?
A grill is a jewellery accessory, not a dental solution. You can take it on and off yourself, just like necklace or ring. A grill is made using jewellery techniques that enhance the natural shape of our teeth, work around gaps, and can even hide broken or misshapen teeth. Denture glue may be used if you want your grill to stay in place for longer periods.
  • What are grillz made from?
Dazzle Teeth is currently offering grillz made from Sterling Silver. If you are interested in a yellow gold look, we can gold-plate your sterling silver grill. This gives you the appearance of gold without the high price tag. We do plan to offer solid gold options in the future, but please note this will be significantly more expensive due to the price of gold.
  • Can I get grillz if I have tooth gems?
If the tooth gems are on different teeth, it’s not an issue. However, if they are on the same teeth you want grills for, I recommend having the tooth gems and any dental composite removed before your impression appointment, as they will interfere with the fit.
  • How long does it take?
From your first dental impression appointment, it usually takes 4 weeks to complete and fit your grill. A lot of work goes into crafting it!
  • How is a grill custom made?
Making a grill involves several technics. After taking an alginate impression, I create a stone model to reflect your unique tooth pattern. Using this model jewellers wax is used to design and craft the shape of your grill. This wax piece is sent to one of New Zealand’s best casting specialists to be cast in sterling silver. Once returned, the grill is shaped, cleaned and polished using specialist jewellery finishing techniques. When it’s ready, Dazzle Teeth will contact you to arrange your fitting and collection.
  • What happens if the grill does not fit at the fitting appointment?
My mission is to create a grill that fits perfectly. If it doesn't fit at the fitting appointment, I’ll work with you to identify the issue. If only minor adjustments are needed, I’ll make those. If the fit is completely off, I’ll remake your grill from new impressions—at no extra cost. Please note this will add time to the process.
  • How to care for your grill?
Taking care of your grill is key to maintaining its fit and brilliance. You've invested in it, so it's worth protecting. Avoid eating or drinking while wearing your grill—exposure to food or drink may cause tarnishing. Remove your grill for brushing your teeth and don’t sleep with it in. Avoid smoking and vaping while wearing your grill. Always store it safely in the container and on the provided tooth model when not in use. Leaving it loose increases the risk of accidental damage. If you decide to do any of these things, do so at your own risk!
  • How long does a grill last?
Your grill is made from Sterling Silver, a durable precious metal that can last a lifetime with proper care.
  • How does a grill stay in?
Your grill is made specifically for your teeth, so it should slot over your tooth and feel like it clips into place. This custom-made fit is what holds it securely. If you’re concerned about movement, you can use a small amount of denture glue for extra hold—ideal for a night out.
  • How long does the gold plating last?
This depends on how often you wear your grill and how well you care for it. Exposure to food, drinks, and general wear can impact the plating. If needed, gold-plated grills can be replated through me.
  • Can I smoke or vape with grillz on?
Smoking or vaping while wearing your grill can cause discolouration or tarnishing due to the heat and substances involved. It’s best to remove your grill before smoking or vaping.
  • How do I get a grill made with you?
Getting a custom-made grill is an exciting process! The first step is to book the first appointment called a dental impression. There we'll chat about the kind of grill you want, and I’ll take your dental impressions in the same session. The process of crafting your grill takes time, but ideally within four weeks, you’ll return for your final fitting and collect your new grill. Start the process by booking online through my booking system.
  • Do you offer refunds?
Appointment deposits are non-refundable. The balance of your grill is paid in full at your first appointment, when your dental impression is taken. Once production has started, I do not offer refunds. This is due to the time, materials, and skill involved in producing a well-fitting grill. That said, please get in touch if you have any issues—I’ll always aim to find a solution you’re happy with.
  • Can I get a custom design?
Absolutely! I love bringing your ideas to life. Book a dental impression appointment to get started—this includes a consultation where we’ll discuss your concept. Feel free to bring any inspiration images with you.
